Prof. Kunkel Receives Publication Award

You might recall that Prof. Marianne Kunkel was recognized for big-time excellence with her poetry.

Now, she has received the JCCC Publication Award to give her a nice plaque and a bit of cash to memorialize the achievement. But of course the poetry is its own reward.

Prof. Texter is Multi-tasking

Douglas Texter’s article “Twelve Percent” was published in the online personal finance magazine The Humble Dollar on January 16.

Texter will be presenting “Assessing Voice and Audience” on February 28 at the annual conference of the New Mexico Higher Education Assessment Association.

Finally, in partnership with the National World War I Museum and Memorial,  Texter’s special topics course on the Great War will be visiting the Museum, learning to use the  Museum’s online databases, and hosting a student-research symposium in May on the way in which World War I can be used as a lens to view current conflicts.

Prof. Price Gets Creative

We missed two accomplishments by Journalism Professor Michael Price.

The first is an investigative film he put out in September last year on Kansas City PBS called A Tale of Three Cities.

The second is that a poem of mine called “Triggers” was published in last year’s Kansas City Voices.
