JCCC athletics is a highly respected and well-rewarded program. A program that can’t be run by just anybody. It requires someone who is knowledgeable, dedicated, driven, and not afraid to make tough decisions. After only three years, our athletic director, Tony Tompkins has already proven himself to be that someone.

“It has been a great three years so far. We have made some great strides so far, but there is always opportunity for improvement,” Tompkins said.

It is with this attitude that JCCC has seen great success under Tompkins’ leadership, and will continue seeing success in the coming years. In his first year alone, four of seven of JCCC’s teams ended their season in the top 10 nationally. He has also helped produce 13 All-Americans, 28 All-Region performers, and 45 All-KJCCC selections. Despite all these incredible achievements, Tompkins has a few that stand out to him the most.

“Being able to hand the National Championship trophy to our women’s basketball team was pretty special,” Tompkins said. “Being able to watch our teams compete at the National Tournament and represent JCCC on the national stage always makes me proud.”

After such an incredible three years, there is no doubt that Tompkins will continue to point our teams in the direction of success. His leadership and devotion to excellence both on and off the field stands to break new records and inspire the next generation of student athletes.

“Being at JCCC has truly been a blessing and I am thankful for the relationships I have developed here,” Tompkins said. “This is where I want to be.”
