Cavaliers close season strong: Baseball and Softball Shine in Postseason

Baseball

The JCCC men’s Cavaliers baseball team had a good summer; they won their third straight NJCAA Division I Plains District Tournament title, going undefeated in Salina, Kansas. This helped them earn a spot in the NJCAA World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado, where they had standout moments in the tournament. This included a 13-0 run-rule win over Fort Scott, powered by a complete game and a two-hit shutout from standout pitcher Josiah Golden.

At the NJCAA World Series, JCCC pulled a thrilling 14-13 win against (EQ) Eastern Oklahoma, but their season ended with a 10-4 loss to Blinn College on May 26.

Softball 

The JCCC Women’s softball team started their postseason strong with a huge 9-1 win over Fort Scott, which helped them build momentum early in the NJCAA D-II bracket. In the Division II softball World Series in Oxford, Alabama, the Cavaliers fought hard and finished with a 3-2 record, tying for fifth place. Their season included two dramatic walk-off wins, showing off their resilience. Aspen Burgardt, the 2024 D II player of the year, led the offense with a 3-for-3 performance that included a triple, two runs scored, and an RBI (Runs Batted In), while Katie Kolarik, Maddie Murray, Izzy Carter, and Janelle Lange also made key contributions.

Both JCCC baseball and softball teams had seasons to be proud of. The baseball team showed consistency and toughness, with a third straight district title and a competitive showing on the big stage. The softball team demonstrated resilience and delivered big performances, concluding the season with a top-five national finish. Together, the two programs highlighted the Cavaliers’ tradition of excellence and set the stage for even more success in the future.
