The Johnson County Community College men’s soccer team continues to build momentum, extending their winning streak with a series of strong performances, including four shutouts in their last five matches.

Midfielder Ben Points said the streak has been a big confidence boost for the team.

“It feels really good to be on this streak and get this many shutouts this early in the season,” Points said. “The team has really good chemistry and all of us get along– we’re always hanging out, even outside of soccer.”

Points credited the team’s improvement to increased intensity in training and a focus on minimizing mistakes.

“Everyone is on the same page and locked in on the same goals,” Points added. “We all love each other, and I think it shows that everyone is there for each other on the field.”

Individually, Points said his game has grown during this stretch, particularly his off-the-bat positioning,

“I was struggling in preseason to get on the ball and was in the wrong places,” Points explained. “ I think that I am getting on the ball way more during this stretch.”

In their win on Sept. 10, the Cavaliers showcased both offensive power and good defense. In their 3-0 win against Allen Community College, they showcased a balanced attack and resolute defense. The team’s ability to maintain possession and create scoring opportunities has been a key factor for them in their success so far.
