Taylor Swift released her twelfth album, “The Life of a Showgirl”, on Oct. 3, and as Swifties that respect themselves, The Messenger’s editor in chief and co-managing editor, could not pass the opportunity to give you their thoughts on the album.

When I hit play on “The Fate of Ophelia”, I got a little scared, I thought to myself “Is this going to be a little boring?”. But I could not have been further from the truth. This album is happy Taylor Swift, and I love it! What I really enjoy is that sort of drop around the end of each song, where the tempo shifts and everything sounds a little more joyful and lively. “The Life of a Showgirl”, “Wood”, “Wi$h Li$t” and “Father Figure” were on repeat as soon as Friday morning, and after experiencing “The Fate of Ophelia” on the big screen on Friday night, it joined the rotation. But to be fair, there are no skips. A big applause from to me to Ms. Swift!

Taylor Swift’s “The Life of a Showgirl” is full of cheerful and high tempo songs. It is clear to say that the album is closer to a return of her pop-ier and up-tempo albums like “1989” or “Lover.” As someone who loves Swift’s lyricism and music production, I think this album is a fantastic mix of the two. The thing that I love most about the album is the fact that you can really feel Swift’s emotion in the songs. Although some may argue that the lyrics of this album are not as “deep” or “meaningful” as her previous albums, it is clear that she is over the moon in love. If she’s happy, I am happy for her! My favorite songs are probably “Opalite”, “Honey”, “The Fate of Ophelia”, and “The Life of a Showgirl.” But, I personally feel like there are no skips on this album. It’s a 10/10 from me!
