Find Your Joy! 

That is the theme of this year’s National Library Week. National Library Week is April 19-25. 

According to the American Library Association, this week is an “annual celebration highlighting the valuable role libraries and library professionals play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities.” 

Here are some ways that you can help celebrate library week:

• Stop by your local library and bring a friend.
• Help a friend sign up for a library card.
• Explore something new at your local library: a new book, program, class, or even a conversation.

This year’s Chair is Mychal Threets, “award-winning librarian, author, and new host of Reading Rainbow,” according to Friends of Johnson County Library. 

The Billington Library is holding events this week to help celebrate. Here’s what you can look forward to the rest of the week: 

• Wednesday, April 22: in LIB 204, there is a From the Archives, JCCC’s first mascot event, from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. One of JCCC’s first alumni and the creator of the mascot will do a painting reveal of the first-ever campus mascot. 
• Friday, April 24: an AI and Translation: Anime, Manga & More event will be held in LIB 204 from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. 

Every event hosted by the Billington Library this week is free and open to everyone in the community, with snacks and refreshments provided. 

The Friends invite you to find your joy this week and “visit a branch, thank a library worker, join the Friends, support our advocacy work, or stop by the Book Nook.”
