Members of the JCCC Model United Nations traveled to Beijing and Xian China November 14 to 24th 2012. In Xian JCCC Model was hosted by Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU). JCCC signed an agreement with NPU in 2000 that sets up a cultural student exchange and in particular with the Model UN program. This program is unique. NPU will be sending students to JCCC this coming spring as they have done each year since 2002. The NPU students come to JCCC to train with the Model UN team before attending the New York conference at the United Nations. JCCC has previously sent students to Xian in 2004 and 2008. JCCC students prepared represented the United Kingdom and prepared postion papers for the Xian conference.
While in Beijing the JCCC Model UN was able to visit World Heritage sights such as the Great Wall, Ming Tombs, Tian’an Men Square, Temple of Heaven, and the Forbidden City, etc. before attending the Model UN Conference at JCCC partner school Northwestern Polytechnical University in Xian China.

Due to political events the Model UN conference was cancelled. The JCCC Model UN was invited to the JCCC partner school Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) in Xian. While in Xian JCCC stayed on the NPU campus and students from the NPU Model UN escorted the JCCC students to visit historic sites such as the Mausoleum of Qin Shi Huang and the Terra Cotta Army, tour of the Great Mosque of Xian, tour of the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda and the city walls and Drum and Bell Towers.

The JCCC Model UN also visited with the NPU Model UN team and held training sessions.  NPU Model UN has a dedicated classroom for the Model United Nations. In addition, JCCC Model UN also met with NPU English classes. Please see the below JCCC Model UN team reaction papers. The NPU Model UN will be at JCCC in March 2013.

Plagiarism Note

Plagiarism will not be tolerated at any point by NMUN/NCCA. Not even the best source exempts delegates from coming up with their own ideas and suggestions, and then framing them in their own words. Delegates should be aware that position papers and draft resolutions are read and evaluated by NMUN staff who have worked on and prepared committee and agenda items for months. This provides them with a profound understanding of the topics and enables them to identify and report incidences of plagiarism.
