Self-Paced Training
- Creating Accessible Learning Resources – This training is intended to be a resource to help you learn how to create accessible content. Completion is not required and is not being tracked.
- Get Your Course Ready with the CAVS Accessibility Framework – This resource provides step-by-step guides (with screenshots) for improving the accessibility in your Canvas course and instructional materials.
- Course Accessibility Checklist (PDF for printing) – Provides some guidance for creating base-line accessible content in Canvas and in other common document formats.
Accessibility Open Office Hours (SP 2026)
We know that making course materials accessible can feel like a daunting item on your to-do list. Let’s tackle it together! Join the Ed Tech Center for dedicated working sessions designed to help you cross those items off your list. Stay for 15 minutes or the whole hour!
Whether you need to fix heading structures in your syllabus, add alt-text to images, or caption a lecture video, we will be there to troubleshoot in real-time.
What to expect:
- Hands-on help: Instructional designers will be available to answer specific questions.
- Productivity: A supported space to focus on making your content accessible. Progress:
- Bring your laptop (optional) or work on one of our computers—leave with a more accessible course.

- Accessible Math Editor: Word – This article is from the Perkins School for the Blind. It has a video and information on how to use the Word Math Editor to make accessible content. They recommend leaving documents as Word files (not PDF files).

- Learn how to design PowerPoint presentations that are accessible and engaging.

- Gain insights into creating tables and graphs that are easy to understand and navigate.

May 8 – Captioning Videos in Yuja
- Get hands-on experience with adding captions to videos using Yuja.

May 15 – Adding Audio Descriptions to Videos
- Learn how to enhance video accessibility by adding audio descriptions. Learn tips for how to record videos that include these descriptions up-front so you do not need to remediate them later.
