JCCC’s Student Life Ambassadors are preparing for their biggest event of the year. Cav Craze, the annual end-of-year celebration, will be held May 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in COM Plaza.

“The name speaks for itself — it’s kind of a crazy event,” said Stefan Jankovic, a Student Life Ambassador who has served for four semesters. He pointed to a collage of photos from previous Cav Crazes covering a pillar in the Student Engagement Office. In the photos, smiling students pose together in matching T-shirts. 

Jankovic highlighted a photo of a student riding a mechanical bull, saying the bull will be back this year, along with a new game called “Dunk a Professor.” Ann Turney, Director of Student Life & Leadership, confirmed that there will be a dunk tank with a participating professor.

Turney says this year’s focus is on creating a lively, fun atmosphere, and she is especially excited about the newly added dueling piano performance. 

“The general vibe is celebratory. The weather is getting nice, [and] it’s fun seeing students dance to the DJ,” Turney said. 

The Golden Girls Dance Team’s final performance of the season will also be featured. Free food will be offered from Jack Kettlecorn, Kona Ice and a taco stand by Dining Services. 

The Student Life Ambassadors will manage all setup for the event with support from other school departments. According to Jankovic, the ambassadors are invested in working together to ensure the event is a success.

Jankovic, who is transferring to KU to major in finance next semester, worked on budgeting the event, giving him what he described as great job experience and a way to boost his resume. 

Turney said that Student Life is intentional about job assignments for the Ambassadors.

“It’s important for us that ambassadors gain skills and experience that will help them beyond their time on our team,” Turney said.

Jankovic did not want to comment on the budget of the event, but said in terms of student smiles, Cav Craze is “a big return on investment.”
