The time has come, my last day as editor-in-chief of The Messenger. I never thought, less than two years ago when I first got to JCCC, that this French international student would get to be the first ever (and so far, only) news editor of The Messenger, let alone lead the whole publication a few months later. I will never be able to fully express how grateful I have been and forever will be for this opportunity. This job has taught me so much and has opened a lot of doors for me.

I am extremely proud of the work we have done this year, culminating in winning–in our first year of eligibility–the All Kansas, Two-Year, Online & Digital Overall Publication Award at the 2026 Kansas Collegiate Media Conference this past April.

This was the result of our staff’s hard work throughout the year. A special thank you to my teammates from day one, and our co-managing editors this year, Seth Lampton and Aubrey May. We started at The Messenger together, and are leaving together, and I find that pretty poetic. Thank you to both of you for being by my side this year. We made a great team.

I would not have been able to accomplish any of this without our advisor, Mike Humphrey. Thank you for guiding me and offering your wisdom. And finally, thank you to our advisory board for taking a chance on this international student from Saint-Egrève, France.

It is bittersweet to leave The Messenger today; I am excited for what’s ahead, but also pretty sad that this chapter is over. But I know that The Messenger is in great hands for years to come, starting next year with my successor, Sammie Magee.

Thank you again to all of you for following us this year, and I hope that you will continue to make The Messenger your top destination for news, life and sports.
