JCCC Women’s Volleyball Continues To Impresse
Since the season began in August, the JCCC Women’s Volleyball team has delivered an impressive performance, winning 10 of 13 games so far, with 16 left on the schedule.
On Saturday, Sept. 6 they faced both Southeastern Community College and Kirkwood Community College. Going into that gameday, their record was 8-2. With taking home the win against Southeastern by winning all three sets (Set 1: 25-15, Set 2: 22-25, Set 3: 25-12) and an unfortunate loss against Kirkwood Community College (Set 1: 25-22, Set 2: 25-18, Set 3: 25-15), their record after the weekend came to 9-3.
Their most recent game on Wednesday was against Labette Community College, where they swept them (Set 1: 25-12, Set 2: 25-16, Set 3: 25-20).
Looking ahead at next week’s games, they play Cowley County Community College on Wednesday, Central Community College on Friday, and they have two games on Saturday one against Lincoln Land Community College and the other against Northeast Community College. With four more games on the horizon next week, the team will hopefully build on their 10-3 record and continue their strong push through the season.

The Johnson County Community College Volleyball team is on fire thank to some can’t-miss athletes. A few players to watch for on the JCCC side are #12 Ava Esser, #3 Campbell Chabot, and #10 Claire Martin.
Ava Esser (Freshman, #12) is an offensive weapon, averaging 4.0 kills per set with 172 total kills to her name so far. While also leading the team in total attacks and hit percentage, Esser also broke JCCC’s single-game kill record this season on September 3rd against Neosho County with 31 kills.
Campbell Chabot (Freshman, #3) is JCCC Volleyball’s assist master, with 435 total assists, 400 more than JCCC Volleyball’s next highest assist leader. While a difficult task, Chabot is on pace to have one of the all-time JCCC Volleyball seasons in terms of total assists.
Claire Martin (Sophomore, #10) is the Cavs’ current defensive leader, boasting high numbers in receptions (210), digs (220), and digs per set (5.12). Martin also only has 8 reception errors, fewest among JCCC Volleyball’s top three defensive specialists.
