1981-1982 – Last season for JCCC Wrestling team. Head coach Larry Rechterfig, assistant Bob Coffman. Team finished with 7 wins, 6 losses and 1 tie. 3 members qualified for the National Tournament in Worthington Minnesota: Mark Myers, Dave Rufenacht, Vince McCullough
February 11. 1981 – Recommended that the Board of Trustees authorize the President to submit a proposed contractual agreement for the consideration of the NJCAA Women’s Division to host the Women’s National Basketball Tournament for 1983 through 1985. ( As noted in the 1982 program JCCC did not retain the tournament as it moved to Senatobia, Mississippi in 1983.)
March 16, 1981 – NJCAA Women’s Basketball Banquet speaker Gary Bender, CBS Sportscaster, played football at KU. We dedicate the 1981 tournament to Alberta Lee Cox, former Olympic coach, and basketball star “Kansas City’s First lady of Basketball”. Information found in program in box 4.
March 17-21, 1981 – 7th NJCAA Women’s Basketball National Championship Tournament held at JCCC.
