Welcome to Staff Development!

Extra Effort Awards – August 7, 2020

Mary Brady, AAC Tutor, Academic Achievement Center – Nominated by Kaitlin Krumsick and Valerie Mann

Mary volunteered to help with beginning of the semester training with the JCAE program, and in true Mary fashion, dove in head-first and was a stand-out helper for these first-time students.  The comments from the JCAE director about her were as follows: “Mary Brady has made a particularly strong, positive impression.  She was one of the volunteers who arrived at 8 am only to be told that her role would not begin until 9:30. She was gracious in the moment, worked yesterday morning, then returned last night to help again.  She commented that the work was fun for her.  And in fact, she had so much fun that she is signed up again to work this evening.”  Her love for the students and the work that shines through in her role as an AAC Tutor were palpable with the JCAE students as well!

Daniel Epley, Enterprise Application Administrator, Enterprise Application Support– Nominated by Rob Wyrick

Daniel serves as a trusted advisor and project leader for the JCCC Foundation, continuously going above and beyond to provide support, guidance, and expertise.  While honestly, Daniel has been deserving of this recognition for years, he recently helped guide the JCCC Foundation through an unexpected project that was likely outside of his scope of responsibilities.  He worked additional hours over multiple days, going well above and beyond…and is a shining example of the type of dedicated campus partner this award is intended to recognize.

Robin Judkins, Senior Network Analyst, Unified Communication – Nominated by Frances Schafer

Robin provided timely, instructive, and compassionate IT support beyond the call of duty when I downloaded Jabber on my home computer and encountered problems.  Having this software functional allows me to shoulder my Admissions workload and provide excellent customer service while keeping my cancer-survivor husband safe during COVID-19.  Hats off to Robin!

Austin Maxwell, Administrative Assistant, Procurement – Nominated by Leann Eaken

Austin graciously assisted me with the information needed to update our PO accounts. This saved me time and stress. He gave me the vendor numbers, ID numbers, commodity codes, and previous PO numbers. These are saved for next year, but I sure appreciated his willingness to help!

Amy Warner, Counselor – Nominated by Annette Maassen-Spates

Amy has dedicated a large portion of her daily workload to help IS implement and work through testing and issue resolution with the Microsoft Flow (Power Automate) tool. This is a process that integrates the O365 Outlook calendar with AccuCampus Staff availability. Not only did this require countless hours of analysis to go through individual calendars, but Amy also utilized her technical expertise and implemented the Flows for individual Counselors. She also arranged numerous sessions with Counselors in person and through Zoom as we moved to our virtual world. She also trained all the staff to use the scheduling features in AccuCampus. Amy is always enthusiastic to learn about and use new technologies.  Without her technical knowledge and patience, we simply would not have been able to complete this implementation. Thank you!

Rachel Evans, Administrative Assistant, CE Marketing
Deanne Belshe, Manager Digital, Digital Department

  • Nominated by Jessica Johnson

A huge THANK YOU to Rachel Evans and Deanne Belshe for their extra effort in providing SBDC Web page Traffic Data within hours of the request.  A request came in after-hours from the Kansas SBDC State Office requesting SBDC Web page Traffic data, for the first six months in 2020 to present, to the Small Business Administration for CARES Act reporting with a deadline of 5 pm the following day.  I sent the request to Rachel who immediately forwarded to Deanne and within hours, the data was in my inbox.  Because of their swift action, we were able to meet the short deadline and provide the information for CARES Act reporting.

Moving forward, the virtual Extra Effort Awards will be announced bi-weekly.  The virtual Extra Effort Award nomination form can be found at https://blogs.jccc.edu/staffdev/awards/extra-effort/
