Scholarship Opportunities

Honors Program Scholarships

The honors program offers scholarships in two instances:

  1. For honors students in good standing (making progress toward honors requirements and above a 3.5 cumulative GPA), there is an automatic honors scholarship covering the cost of 3-4 credit hours of honors coursework a semester.
    1. Only honors courses are covered by the scholarship.
    2. Partial courses cannot be covered, so the scholarship will typically cover 3 credit hours (only 4 if you have an additional 1 credit hour honors class like HON 100 or EVRN 131).
    3. If you do not meet GPA or activity requirements, email Regan Baker (rbaker55@jccc.edu) to talk about an exception. We’re happy to make exceptions when possible.
    4. This scholarship will be applied part of the way through the semester, after the drop deadline. Application of the scholarship is automatic if you are enrolled in an honors course. If you have already paid for the full cost of the course the scholarship will likely come as a reimbursement. Confirm with financial aid to be sure that this is the case for you.
  2. When possible, honors will provide funding for study abroad requests submitted via an honors study abroad request form. Contact Melissa Nolan (mnolan13@jccc.edu) for information about deadlines.

JCCC Scholarship Application

What you need to do:

  1. Have a current and complete JCCC application for admission on file.
  2. Be degree- or certificate-seeking.
  3. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is not required but encouraged to be completed before the priority deadline, so you can be considered for need-based and many department scholarships.
  4. Complete the JCCC Scholarship Application before the April 1 priority deadline.

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships

Phi Theta Kappa offers many scholarships for PTK members. If you plan to transfer, your institution might also offer transfer scholarships for PTK (you can typically find that on a page about admissions scholarships for transfer students on that school’s website).

Greater Kansas City Community Foundation Scholarships

The Greater Kansas City Community Foundation  has provided more than $7 billion in grants to students in and around Kansas City. If you are a new user, sign up for an account. After creating an account, you will be automatically directed to the general application. If you receive scholarships from a source other than JCCC, you need to notify JCCC’s Financial Aid Office.

Additional Outside Scholarships

JCCC’s financial aid office keeps a list of verified outside scholarships (meaning they are not funded by JCCC) for Kansas/Missouri scholarships and national scholarships.
