Securing an internship can be challenging within the first two years of college, but it is so valuable! There are many resources here on campus designed to assist students in landing their desired internship. Completing an internship will get you 2 points towards honors completion and assist in catapulting your academic or professional career to the next level. For the purposes of exploratory points an internship is considered, a professional learning experience where a student works for a business or organization with the sole purpose of gaining work experience and/or to satisfy qualification requirements related to a student’s field of study or career interest.
Benefits of internships are far-reaching:
- Hands-on work experience allowing you to develop and refine skills, gain confidence, and make you more competitive in the job market.
- An internship may allow you to explore a career path you had not considered OR
- Realize the career path you had been considering was really not the right fit for you!
- Some internships are PAID!
- Great networking opportunities
- You earn 2 points towards honors completion once you complete a minimum of 60+hours at your internship placement and submitting a reflection !
