Public Presentations

Public presentations are excellent opportunities for honors scholars to share what they’ve learned through their honors experiences. Public presentations are also great opportunities to:

  • Boost confidence
  • Improve communication skills
  • Develop new social connections
  • Expand professional network

For the purposes of honors completion a public presentation is defined as, a presentation at an academic or professional conference. Presentation may be made independently or as part of a group.

*class presentations do not count as a public presentations. 

Academic conferences should be sponsored by an institution (JCCC or another institution), and must highlight student research. STEM Symposium and Honors Symposium participation are considered approved public presentation opportunities.

Professional conferences must be hosted by an external association for a specific discipline.

For demonstrations of creative work to count as a public presentation event selection process must be peer-reviewed.

Reflections are not required for public presentations but students must submit a presentation experience form and a copy of there presentation or photos from the presentation to receive 2 points.
