All-USA Academic Team Scholarship

The All-USA Academic Team Scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and significant campus and community engagement. This scholarship is open to PTK members and non-members alike. Winners each receive a $5,000 scholarship and a commemorative medallion. To qualify for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be nominated by your college’s designated nominator.

Coca-Cola Academic Team Scholarship

The Coca-Cola Academic Team Scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and significant campus and/or community leadership and service. This scholarship is open to PTK members and non-members alike. To qualify for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be nominated by your college’s designated nominator.

Guistwhite Scholarship

The Guistwhite Scholarship recognizes Phi Theta Kappa members for engagement and participation in Phi Theta Kappa chapter activities and societal programs, while also exhibiting leadership accomplishments and outstanding academic achievement during the pursuit of a bachelor’s degree.

The Guistwhite Scholarship honors Phi Theta Kappa International Honorary Member Dr. Jack Guistwhite and his wife, Margaret. Dr. Guistwhite developed the first transfer scholarship designated exclusively for Phi Theta Kappa members. To qualify for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be currently enrolled through December 2021 in a minimum of six (6) semester credit hours [or nine (9) quarter credit hours] of associate degree, college-level coursework at the time of application.
  • Be an active member of Phi Theta Kappa in good standing.
  • Hold a minimum of a 3.5 cumulative GPA out of a possible 4.0 on all college-level coursework completed in the past five years. Include all transcripts, fall 2016 to present. GPA is evaluated at the time of application, and no courses can be marked as incomplete. You must maintain GPA until transfer to a four-year college.
  • Intend to transfer to a regionally accredited four-year college in fall 2022. You must be admitted in your major program of study and be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester (or the quarterly equivalent).
  • Have completed a minimum of 45 college-level semester credit hours (or the quarterly equivalent) by December 31, 2021, and at least 50 college-level semester credit hours (or the quarterly equivalent) at the time of transfer to a four-year college.
  • Hold temporary or permanent residency in the country of the college OR must possess a visa considered appropriate by the college.

Hites Scholarship

The Hites Transfer Scholarship recognizes outstanding academic achievement and rigor, engagement in college and community activities, and leadership accomplishment of Phi Theta Kappa members preparing to transfer to senior institutions in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree.

The scholarships are funded by a scholarship endowment established in 2010 as a result of a matching grant from the Hites Family Community College Scholarship Foundation. The first Hites Scholars were announced in 2010, expanding Phi Theta Kappa’s commitment to support transfer students in their pursuit of a bachelor’s degree. To qualify for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be currently enrolled through December 2021 in a minimum of six (6) semester credit hours [or nine (9) quarter credit hours] of associate degree, college-level coursework at the time of application.
  • Be a Phi Theta Kappa member in good standing.
  • Hold a mimimum of a 3.50 cumulative GPA out of a possible 4.0 on all college-level coursework completed in the past five years. Include all transcripts, fall 2016 to present. GPA is evaluated at the time of application, and no courses can be marked as incomplete. You must maintain GPA until transfer to a four-year college.
  • Intend to transfer to a regionally accredited four-year college in fall 2022. Student must be admitted to study on a full-time basis in his/her program of study.
  • Have completed a minimum of 45 college-level semester credit hours (or the quarterly equivalent) by December 31, 2021, and at least 50 college-level semester credit hours (or the quarterly equivalent) at the time of transfer to a four-year college.
  • Hold temporary or permanent residency in the county of the college the student is attending OR must possess a visa considered appropriate by the college.

JCCC Quiz Bowl Scholarship

The JCCC Quiz Bowl Scholarship is awarded to participants on the JCCC Quiz Bowl Team. To qualify for this scholarship, you must:

  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • Be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours.
  • Have completed no more than 90 college credit hours.
  • Not have a college degree.
  • Be available to commit 2 hours of practice time per week.
  • Be available to compete in some weekend tournaments.


Model UN Team Scholarship

The Model UN Team Scholarship recognizes participation in the Model UN Team. To qualify for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be degree seeking.
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.0.
  • Complete and submit the JCCC scholarship application.
  • Complete and submit the Model UN Team Scholarship application, including a brief narrative (300 words or less, double-spaced, and typed) stating professional and personal goals, including reason for needing the scholarship and reasons for interest in participating on the Model UN Team or related activities.


New Century Pathway Scholarship

The student receiving the highest All-USA Academic Team application score in each state is named a New Century Workforce Pathway Scholar or a New Century Transfer Pathway Scholar. Students nominated for the Workforce pathway should be planning to enter the workforce after completing a certificate or associate degree, and students nominated for the Transfer Pathway should be planning to transfer to the four-year college after graduation. The program annually recognizes 104 scholars. Each New Century Workforce Pathway Scholar receives special recognition at the Association of Community College Trustees Congress. Each New Century Transfer Pathway Scholar receives special recognition at the American Association of Community Colleges Convention. To qualify for this scholarship:

  • Submit an application for the All-USA Academic Team.
  • Be selected as a nominee by your college.

S A Dance Team Scholarship

The S A Dance Team Scholarship is awarded to students who are selected for the JCCC Dance Team. To qualify for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be fully admitted to JCCC.
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.00.
  • Be enrolled in at least 12 hours.
  • Complete and submit the audition application.
  • Be recommended for the scholarship by the Dance Team Coach.
  • Tryout for the Dance Team. (Tryouts are held in early spring.)
  • Be available for practice Monday through Friday and participate at all home men’s and women’s basketball games.
