Healthcare Information Systems (HCIS)

HCIS students Nneka Ezeh and Dr. Maki Tamura were featured in The University of Kansas Health System newsletter this month. As part of a partnership with the Healthcare Information Systems program, the Research Informatics and Learning & Development Provider Experience teams at TUKHS hosted two interns for the spring 2024 semester. From the article: The internship program is designed to provide a bridge between the classroom and practical application as well as maximize interns’ skills, abilities, and interest. While the JCCC internship is designed to provide learning opportunities for the students, TUKHS teams also benefit from the experience.

“One of the benefits of hosting an intern was having a new point of view on an old problem. Maki was eager to research and compare several potential strategies to help us meet one of our team’s primary objectives. Her detailed analysis and fresh eye gave us new insights and a clearer roadmap for improving our provider documentation.” – Susie Simpson, HITS L&D Provider Experience Team
