Duties:

The SEO Intern will have the opportunity to execute organic search deliverables, monitor and report on website performance, and conduct research to aid in ongoing optimizations. SelectQuote is looking for candidates with an analytical mindset, an entrepreneurial spirit, and an appetite for research and writing.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate website performance for optimizations
  • Conduct keyword research, competitive research, and market research
  • Generate SEO recommendations then test and execute against them
  • Develop insights around market trends and business performance
  • Monitor, evaluate, and elevate trends within the SEO industry
  • Collaborate with others on the marketing team to ensure all marketing initiatives and messaging are consistent and aligned with company and division goals

HCIS – Health Information Systems, MIRM – Medical Information and Revenue Management
The Health Information Technology (HIT) Career Mentorship Program is in full-swing! Mentors from local industry have been paired with current HCIS and MIRM students – conversations and networking are in-progress! (See photo below). Students and mentors are requested to meet monthly throughout the course of the semester and take advantage of the events and/or meetings of local professional organizations (Greater Kansas City HIMSS, AAPCKC, KCHIMA). A new class of mentors/mentees is planned for Spring 2020. This is a Carl Perkins funded project.

MIRM – Medical Information and Revenue Management
The following Spring 2019 MIRM graduates have successfully passed the Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credentialing exam: Rebecca Bruce, Amy Crowther, and Amber Roderick. This credential is nationally-recognized, awarded by the American Academy of Processional Coders (AAPC).

Angie Reed, Spring 2019 graduate of the Web Development and Digital Media program has accepted a Search Engine Optimization position with Thruline Marketing of Overland Park, Kansas. Angie met Thruline through the spring 2019 Reverse Career Fair, organized in collaboration with the Career Service and CSIT Division. Based on her resume and portfolio she built during her time in the WDDM program, Angie received a job shadowing opportunity, which transitioned into an internship and then full-time position; a win-win for all!

Intern / Web Developer

Seeking an intern to work as an assistant to a local freelance website designer. The ideal candidate is creative, has a good eye for design, and is a strong writer. You can work on your own schedule and location, but must be available during the day for occasional meetings and phone calls to discuss projects.

You will gain experience working on real life projects, including WordPress websites, Google Ad campaigns, email marketing, ecommerce, and SEO. I can help provide networking and skills development opportunities as well. This will start out as an irregular, project-based position, but with opportunities to grow as your skills develop, including rate increases and additional hours.

Approximately 10 hours per week to start at $15/hour

Technical Skills:
• Experience working with WordPress (school or personal experience is fine)
• Working knowledge of HTML/CSS
• Javascript and PHP are a plus
• Adobe CC (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
• Other digital advertising or computer skills – SEO, Google Ads, social media, Google Analytics, email marketing, and/or video editing are all a plus!
