Part time or Full Time: Full time temp position for project based work. Term: 2 months (40 hrs\week).  Great opportunity for someone on summer break.

Duties: This is a desktop migration project. Job entails imaging Surface Pro 4 hardware with Windows 10 operating system using Microsoft SCCM tools.  Project requires good knowledge of Windows 10, desktop computers, file and print services as well as basic network skills for troubleshooting home wireless networks and wireless printers.  Applicant will be scheduling times with remote sales personnel to move them from their old laptop to the new Surface Pro hardware over the phone and using TeamViewer remote control software.

Qualifications Needed: Windows 10 knowledge, desktop hardware and troubleshooting skills, basic home networking knowledge (WiFi, wireless printers). Strong communication and people skills required with the ability to train people who are not technical.

There is an immediate job opening in the IT Department for a Network Administrator. The following partial job description explains this full-time position located at the West Des Moines Corporate Office. The position is primarily Monday through Friday with occasional overtime and some travel.

 BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES:

Administers more than 250 sites and over 32,000 network devices. Those include all retail, corporate, distribution center, and subsidiary network systems, applications, and services.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND FREQUENCY:

  1. Troubleshoots, administers and maintains wired and wireless networks
  2. Works with retail, distribution center, subsidiary, and corporate personnel to resolve technical problems.
  3. Manages network alerting and monitoring tools used in the enterprise
  4. Plans and performs disaster recovery procedures
  5. Provides second level support and assistance to Support Services
  6. Works with outside consultants and vendors to resolve technical issues
  7. Reports to work when scheduled and works expected number of hours

 EQUIPMENT USED TO PERFORM JOB:

BackOffice applications, Redhat Linux, virtualization, 3rd party applications, printers, modems, and telephone.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB:

High School or equivalent experience. Two to three years of additional schooling with an emphasis in networking is preferred.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  1. Understanding of routing and switching protocols
  2. Cisco Nexus 7K configuration – Understanding of OTV & LISP a plus
  3. Cisco ASA Firewall’s

 I. JOB SUMMARY 

Under limited supervision, complete medium to high complexity projects. Independently support database environments development and maintenance efforts.  Work with IT internal and external teams to define and implement database solutions in support of the new and existing systems.

The qualified candidate will be responsible for implementation of physical database objects, databases administration, troubleshooting, performance improvements, and monitoring. The qualified candidate will be expected to participate in database physical design, data access, and requirements definition, as well as following database administration directions.

II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creates and maintains all databases required for development, testing, education and production usage.
  • Perform ongoing databases tuning
  • Install new versions of the SQL Server RDBMS and its tools and any other tools that access databases.
  • Plan and implement databases backups and recovery.
  • Control migrations of programs, database changes, and reference data changes through the development life cycle.
  • Implement and enforces security for all of databases.
  • Perform databases re-organizations, as required, to assist with performance and ensure maximum uptime of the database.
  • Follow DBA standards to support proper integrity, security, and performance of the databases
  • Evaluate releases of SQL Server and its tools.
  • Ensure any new product usage or releases takes place with minimal impact.
  • Provide technical support to application development teams.
  • Perform administration of all database objects, including tables, clusters, indexes, views, sequences, packages and procedures.
  • Assist with impact analysis of any changes made to the database objects.
  • Troubleshoot problems associated with databases
  • Create new database users as required.

III. REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years’ work experience as SQL Server DBA
  • Bachelor’s degree specializing in computer science or equivalent work experience required
  • Good knowledge of the SQL Server physical database design, backup and recovery, and security management
  • Experience and knowledge in code migrations, database changes, enforcement of the data integrity, and performance tuning
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, initiative, and organization skills
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
